Advice to Bush on How to Avoid War Crimes

If you know you are doing something or going to do something illegal, but don’t want to be caught, it is natural to try and cover your tracks. It appears that is exactly what Bush and his administration did in January and February of 2002 as they set up Guantanamo.

On the advice of then White House counsel Alberto Gonzales, the Bush administration signed a memorandum that denied baseline protection for Al Queda and Taliban prisoners provided by the Third Geneva Convention in order to “substantially reduces the threat of domestic criminal prosecution under the War Crimes Act”.

Will Senate Torture Probe Target Cheney?

Well, Dick. Looks like you were at some secret briefing with congressional leaders back when you were the appointed VP in an attempt to build support for the torture program. Now with Feinstein’s investigation into the torture program, the question is whether Cheney will be the focus of the investigation or not.

So far the Obama administration has taken a very hands-off approach to getting to the bottom of the criminal activity conducted by Bush/Cheney and their band of criminals. Although I see a clear reason why the Obama regime shouldn’t be leading the process, I feel it is critical that the process is undertaken and by our own nation. The world is only going to give us a little while to prove that we can take care of our own mess before they start taking things into an international process. They are required to!

Let’s shine the full power of this nation’s moral light at Bush and Cheney and watch as the cockroaches whither.

Dick. Gagged

Cheney reared his ugly, war crime-committing head today in a policy speech. Wait. Cheney isn’t in power any more. Why the hell is he making a policy speech?

The sad reality is that devoid of any substantial ideas about how to govern this nation, the GOP has adopted a scorched earth policy and is working hard to weaken or destroy any effort the Obama administration mounts. The latest attack dog is former vice president (appointed) Dick Cheney.

Today’s speech was short on anything other than fear mongering and rehashing the failed and soundly rejected policies of the last administration. So why the hell is anyone giving him the time of day, much less the opportunity to speak in front of a camera or a crowd?

The only time I want to hear from Dick before his obituary is when he testifies before a truth and reconciliation hearing and his subsequent trail for crimes against humanity. So. Dick. Sit down and shut up. The bailiff will come for you when the court is ready.

The 43 Who Helped Make Bush The Worst Ever

We’ve seen some lists. We bought the deck of cards. We know their crimes. Think Progress put together a nice, long list of the Bush criminals…

1. Dick Cheney — The worst Dick since Nixon. The man who shot his friend while in office. The “most powerful and controversial vice president.” Until he got the job, people used to actually think it was a bad thing that the vice presidency has historically been a do-nothing position. Asked by PBS’s Jim Lehrer about why people hate him, Cheney rejected the premise, saying, “I don’t buy that.” His top placement in our survey says otherwise.

2. Karl Rove — There wasn’t a scandal in the Bush administration that Rove didn’t have his fingerprints all over — see Plame, Iraq war deception, Gov. Don Siegelman, U.S. Attorney firings, missing e-mails, and more. As senior political adviser and later as deputy chief of staff, “The Architect” was responsible for politicizing nearly every agency of the federal government.

3. Alberto Gonzales — Fundamentally dishonest and woefully incompetent, Gonzales was involved in a series of scandals, first as White House counsel and then as Attorney General. Some of the most notable: pressuring a “feeble” and “barely articulate” Attorney General Ashcroft at his hospital bedside to sign off on Bush’s illegal wiretapping program; approving waterboarding and other torture techniques to be used against detainees; and leading the firing of U.S. Attorneys deemed not sufficiently loyal to Bush.

4. Donald Rumsfeld — After winning praise for leading the U.S. effort in ousting the Taliban from Afghanistan in 2001, the former Defense Secretary strongly advocated for the invasion of Iraq and then grossly misjudged and mishandled its aftermath. Rumsfeld is also responsible for authorizing the use of torture against terror detainees in U.S. custody; according to a bipartisan Senate report, Rumsfeld “conveyed the message that physical pressures and degradation were appropriate treatment for detainees.”

5. Michael Brown — This former commissioner of the International Arabian Horse Association was appointed by Bush to head FEMA in 2003. After Katrina made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane, Brownie promptly did a “heck of a job” bungling the government’s relief efforts, and was sent back to Washington a few days later. He was forced to resign shortly thereafter.

George Deutsch — As a young, inexperienced press officer for NASA, Deutsch “told public affairs workers to limit reporters’ access to a top climate scientist and told a Web designer to add the word ‘theory’ at every mention of the Big Bang.” He resigned in 2006 after it was discovered he had lied on his resume, falsely claiming that he had a journalism degree from Texas A&M.

Wow. I knew the Palin nomination to the GOP ticket was a stunt, but maybe she is really a closet intellectual playing the part of an ignorant, religious zealot! I’ll let you be the judge!

Live by the Sword, Die by the Sword

For the past 28 years, the GOP and corporate America has been beating one drum louder than all the rest; big government is bad and it should stay out of business’ way. They have worked tirelessly and systematically to rip apart this nation and what little safeguards it held for workers, their jobs, a hope for a living wage and a future to retire on. Legislators and their rich backers called you a communist or a socialist if you stood up for any oversight. They shreded regulations left and right, dismantled oversight systems and ran amok with the nation’s finances.

And now that they have gutted the system, bled it to the brink of death, they want the suffering tax payers to pony up 800 BILLION dollars to bail them out?! Are you fucking kidding me!!! They want the “Big, Bad Government” to step in and fix their problems. No.

No. No. No. Let the free market that you have been ramming down our throats for the past 28 years take care of itself. We know what it is going to do. It is going to collapse. Total failure. And a lot of people are going to hurt. And a lot of people are going to get run out of town on a rail for their immoral, illegal, selfish greedy actions. And then after all the hurting, and the failing, and the collapsing. We are going to stand up again and start to put things back together again. This time we will have learned our lessons. This time we will make sure that the fox is locked outside of the hen house. This time we will regulate and oversee what happens with our money. Where the investors invest our money. We will make sure that CEOs and fund managers make a living wage and no more. This time when you choose to live by the sword, you have to die by the sword.

But wait. No. Henry Paulson and the Bushies and apparantely the entire fucking Congress is conning the American people. They are using the same old scare tactics, telling the same old lies. And they are playing the same evil game, too.

Section 8 of the Proposed Bailout Package states:

Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency.

Non-reviewable and not under the jurisdiction of any court of law???

NO! Not in my country! Time to get the swords… This needs to die.

I still reel with the lack of understanding in America. The Republicans are successfully fleecing the citizens of this ignorant, and apparantely drunk nation.

Palin is a radical, right-wing, fundamentalist Christian who would love to create a theocracy. She believes we are living in the “end times” which will result in a bloody inferno from which only true Christians will be saved. Palin recently attended a service in her Wasilla Bible Church run by David Brickner, who runs Jews for Jesus, a group the Anti-Defamation League criticizes for its “aggressive and deceptive” proselytizing of Jews. Those who don’t accept Jesus as their savior will burn in Hell, according to Palin’s brand of theology.
